Zigzag Street
by Philip Dean Directed by Miriam Keane
Adapted from the hilarious novel by Nick Earls
SA Premiere Season ran 25 September - 10 October
Zigzag Street, inner-city Brisbane, 1995. Richard Derrington, 28, is living on Tim Tams and coffee in his grandparents’ house with only a cranky ginger cat for company. He’s not quite sure where his life is going, but somehow he’s managing to keep things together. Just.
Richard’s long-term girlfriend has left him. As he laments what might have been, he’s finding it hard to see an end to his misery. Now his Mum’s on his case and well-meaning people are lining up to give him advice he doesn’t want. As for his celibacy… how can he forget it when his best mate is helping him count the days?
Directed by Miriam Keane,Zigzag Street follows Richard’s life over six weeks, the hilarious moments, and the more poignant ones, as he comes to terms with his new situation, and an understanding of love and loss in past generations.
A brilliantly comic & poignant play about
a ‘twentysomething’ guy learning to deal with loss...
